Her Body Language

You can tell while still on the date how it’s going just by watching her body language. If she leans in to you, makes contact with you by brushing up against your hand or arm, or tilts her head and laughs, these are all good signs. This means she feels a connection with you and may be trying to flirt. If you see her looking at the table, looking around the room, or she is sitting back against her chair completely, these are signs you may need to change the pace or the scenery to hold her attention. If you see this, try to get her to open up about herself. Ask open ended questions, and allow her to take lead.

The End of the Date

The end of the date can be the most telling of all. You don’t want to be a creep and push her to go back to your place or push for a kiss. However, a woman who has felt they had a great date will be more receptive to the end of the date kiss. As you say goodbye, stand close and touch her hair or her shoulder. If she doesn’t shy away from this, you can move in for a little more intimacy. Allow her to control it though. If she doesn’t move towards you, then the kiss won’t happen. This doesn’t mean the date didn’t go well, but it does mean you need to step it up on the next date if you’re given a chance.

Be Attentive

Nothing makes a woman angrier than a boyfriend who doesn’t listen to her. Listening requires more skill than many people realize. You can’t just sit there while she talks. Instead, you have to take in what she says and make mental notes. Showing her you were listening is what’s going to set you apart from other men. If she mentions she has a favorite flower in a conversation somewhere, show her you were paying attention by surprising her with them. When she mentions a favorite food, keep it in mind. You can score major romance points if you surprise her with a home cooked meal based on this. If she’s said she’s had a bad day at work, be ready for her at the door with her favorite pajamas and a bubble bath. These are very simple things and will show her that you are truly attentive to her wants and needs.

Learn to Compromise

Every good relationship will require compromise. This means if you want to sit around and watch football all day on Sundays, be prepared to make this up to her by participating in an activity that she wants, or leave her alone to have a girl’s night to get out of the football madness. These may seem like small things, but they can make an average boyfriend a great boyfriend. You should want to make her happy without losing who you are.

Genre Questions

A great way to get to know more about a person is to ask them questions based on different genres. Ask things like their favorite 80s arcade games, favorite cartoons from their childhood, or most memorable movie they saw as a child are all great icebreakers and will lead to more questions. You may be surprised at how much you have in common as well. These types of questions are non-threatening, and can increase the comfort levels very quickly.

Silly Questions

Silly random questions can help you get to know someone quickly as well. Ask her what type of animal she would be, what her dream car is, or what her favorite scented soap is. These may seem silly, but after they answer ask them why they chose that. The answers may surprise you and give you valuable insight in to their personality. Just be prepared to have the same questions asked of you, so avoid anything you don’t want to talk about.

Get Social

Before you start dating seriously you should spend some time out in public enhancing your social skills. The reason most dates become awkward or uncomfortable is because a person’s social skills may be lacking. You need to learn to communicate with a variety of people and interact with others in a way that is normal and acceptable. For someone who hasn’t spent a lot of time on the social scene, this takes some work.

Humor

One of the things that people say is the best aspect they look for in a date is a sense of humor. You don’t need to learn a bunch of silly jokes to pull this off. Learn to stay light hearted without poking fun at specific people. A sense of humor is something that most people either have or they don’t. However, even those without a strong sense of humor can learn some skills by spending time out in public. Don’t be afraid to be a bit of a voyeur with this. Take your laptop or a newspaper to a local coffee house and just pay attention to how others interact. You’ll start to see how much humor plays a role in most people’s conversations.

Look At the Messages

If you are messaging someone you met online, take a close look at the messages. Are you just flirting, or is there talk of an actual meeting. If you’ve been messaging for a few months and don’t feel anywhere closer to meeting then she is either not interested in you or she is just playing games. If you are afraid of this, it’s acceptable to come right out and ask if you are ever planning on meeting. Be aware that it may take several weeks to a few months to start to feel comfortable enough to agree to a face to face meeting.

Shared Interests

If the only thing you have is common is that you are both on an online dating site, then you probably won’t get very far in an actual relationship. However, if you share a lot of interests and look forward to chatting online with each other, then it’s a pretty good bet that she is interested in you. Watch for signs that signal she is looking forward to future conversations. If she starts to ask about your online schedule and wants to set up times to chat several times a week, then she is probably interested and you could forge forward with meeting in real life.

Sign Up for a Class

You don’t have to sign up for a women’s studies class to meet great single women. Look for classes that do draw more women than men though. Art classes such as pottery or art appreciation are a good start. Photography is another topic that many women enjoy taking. Specialty cooking classes are another place to look. Most community colleges will offer classes that aren’t designed to work towards a degree program, and the continuing education courses offer more flexible schedules and lower cost tuition rates. You can check with local schools or community centers for information on classes.

Museums, Zoos, and Botanical Parks

A museum is a great place to meet single women who are more refined. You can also meet women that share common interests if you look for travelling exhibits that you are interested in. The exhibits tend to draw crowds that may not ordinarily hang out at a museum, and they change often. Zoos are another place to meet women, but you will likely meet more single mums than anything. A zoo provides a great place for both children and adults to enjoy, so single mums will often take their kids to the zoo to let them run off some energy and have an affordable outing. A botanical park is another good place to look. Most of these parks are very low cost, if they cost anything at all, to get in. You can spend hours walking around and admiring the plants and flowers without looking like a creep.
